Wind
Wind makes me feel alive. When it's a windy day I absolutely have to be outside in it. When I taught in a small town in southern Saskatchewan they used to laugh at my need to be outside in it. They used to joke about the ball games when the wind would come whipping up and they would all run to the safety of their trucks and then a figure would appear through the wind and the dust and that of course was me heading out down the country road out of town.
Victoria gets wind but trust me, nothing like the prairies. Here's an excerpt from David Bouchard's book, "If you're not from the prairie..."
If you're not from the prairie,
You don't know the wind,
You can't know the wind.
Our cold winds of winter cut right to the core,
Hot summer wind devils can blow down the door.
As children we know when we play any game,
The wind will be there, yet we play just the same.
If you're not from the prairie,
You don't know the wind.

Today it is rather windy out so I headed down to the ocean and tried to take a few pictures. The first shot was not along the ocean but I just thought the twisted branches against the sky was particularly pretty this morning.
Still having a bit of trouble taking pictures of landscapes. I might be forced into reading the stupid camera manual after all! Bluck!

Any other wind worshippers out there?

I like the wind too. Or any drastic change in the weather so there is a feeling of foreboding. Just seems adventurous.

We are in tornado lane and get a lot of micro bursts of wind.

Nice blog. Picture on top is just like so many of mine. Hard to take with differing lights. Bright and dark.

Bottom is really nice. Balanced. Caught the waves. Good job.

Busterp, tornado lane sounds rather ominous. We had tornados in Saskatchewan but nothing like we see on the news coming from the states.

I also love lightning and thunder and that is something we never get here. Saskatchewan had magnificant electrical storms!

By the way Busterp, people have been saying our sights are hard to get into. You might already know that but I thought I'd pass it along just in case. Seems our switching over to the new system is wreaking havoc with the comment editor. Rats!

Kelly! How can you not miss the wind? I for one do not miss the cold. I absolutely hate being cold.

Hey Mellowlee, how's the weather in Vancouver? We've been getting heavy showers sporadically through the day and I know you guys get way more rain than us. Hope it's not too bad.

It's been pretty nice here actually! We had a sun shower in kerrisdale today. I love it when the sun shines when it's raining lightly. I looked for a rainbow, but no show. I was wondering how you are doing. I heard there was some scary weather!

Oh, sun showers Melanie! They are the best. They're just so odd and unexpected. I was just at your place and that cat is killing me. His expression!
