The Cat Closet
In the bathroom I leave a door open at all times. I call this the cat closet because inside there is a hole that my cat can crawl into.
He of course uses the closet whenever I try to give him medicine or at the first growl of the vacuum. He also likes to make me paranoid by streaking past me with his stomach flat to the ground and flying into the closet causing me to freak while thoughts of, "What have you done and where did you do it," swirl around my head as I wander from room to room looking for signs of disaster.
The closet leads into a little room underneath the bathtub and out through the door that you see below on the right hand side. (My bathroom is two rooms; one contains the sink and bathtub and the other the toilet. Might seem like a weird set up but it's great when you have company staying.)
Sammy Jo loves to startle unsuspecting guests by crawling into the hole and then pawing on the door when they are on the throne!
Here he is crawling out after I stopped vacuuming. I must admit I was rather pleased with this shot. I stood by the hole with my camera on and ready to take a quick snap.
I must say this post sounded a lot more interesting in my head! Oh well, at least the cat looks good.

That was a very interesting post. And I love that you caught him in the act!!
What a neat set up your bathroom(s) are. That would be great with company....no peepee dances while someone's in the tub!
Again, I love your pictures.
i use to rent aplace with that set up, without the holw in the floor though. It was ideal
Does Sammy Jo even know how lucky he is to have all those great hidey holes? Most cats would kill for a setup like that.
Funny that you should be talking about cats and bathrooms - I was just speculating on the weird relationship that my cat has with same. I may have to mention it in a post as well.
Deb, that is exactly why I like the set up. I've been wanting to catch him in the act and was so happy when I did. Now, if I could just catch him getting in. That will be a hard one.
Kelly, I like the set up. Now if only I had a hole in the door where Sammy Jo could get in and out of without my having to climb the stairs each and every time.
Barbara, I like the comments I get when he paws on the door of unsuspecting houseguests! "Jesus, that cat is weird." "Oh my god, he's a catophile." "Agh! I think you have rats!"
LOL, that was a interesting post!
Bathrooms are suppose to be two rooms really, way more sanitary. Too bad most aren't built that way.
Love the last shot, so good. You can really see his personality (I think)...and that pissed off look ;p
the bathroom set up is a very british thing. when i lived in london, i thought it was the best thing ever. especially when you have a ton of roommates. no banging on the door, when you are having a bath.
i love sammy jo crawling out of the hole. he is such a lucky kitty!
Allison, his pissed off look! Oh yes, he has that one down pat! My students often comment on it. It's funny because he is such a cuddle cat and a lap cat.
668, I would love to hear more about your adventures in London. I've been to London but I would love to live there for a year.
My god, that was a funny post. I laughed my ass off! I'm glad I didn't use your bathroom when I was over last ... or I may have pooped my pants with the cat scratching at the door ... but I'd be in the right place for such an event.javascript:void(0)
That was definitely as interesting as it was in your head.
A few years back, one of my landlord's cats made it from his apartment, the one above ours, to the basement; it had figured out a route through the walls. When he heard about this, my son became convinced that there were secret passages in our two-flat. He spent an entire afternoon tapping on walls and searching closets and cabinets for the entrances. And he is certain that there are ghosts living somewhere here.
Small town teacher, just you wait. He'll get a second chance witn you!
Johnny Yen, I can see where the whole idea of secret passages would captivate your son. I used to love reading books with secret tunnels and rooms. That kind of stuff never gets old.
Hey! I really enjoyed this post. That snapshot turned out perfectly didn't it. YAY :O)
****
Thumbs up.
Gotta love cats.
Mellowlee, after his antics of today I wanted to stuff him in that hole and slam the door!
Busterp, that cat was so bad and annoying today that right now I am ready to pawn him off to the first passing stranger. He is finally all curled up in a ball fast asleep looking all cute and innocent. Ha, it's a lie I tell you!
Sammy Jo's day: 1. flip over plate of food onto floor 2. pee on binder filled with physics exams 3. play havoc in the kitty litter tossing kitty litter all over the bathroom 4. fly from room to room chasing stupid ball with bell
mine loves to sleep in the sink in my loo :)
Boo: In the sink! Cats are insane I swear.
What's up with cats being fascinated by bathrooms?
Justacoolcat, who knows? I have decided my cat is crazy. I think it's getting worse the older he gets.
