Friday's Random Shuffle
Any list that starts with Hem gets a gold star from me. The french horn in Sailor is incredibly beautiful and always makes me want to weep from the beauty of it. Someday I am going to learn to play the french horn.
2. Have you got it in you: Imogen Heap
3. In Dreams: Roy Orbison
4. London Girl: The Pogues
5. Tinsel and Sawdust: Jason Collett
6. Your Wish is My Wish: Sarah Slean (Why did I ever buy this CD?)
7. Favorite: Neko Case
8. Ask: The Smiths
9. Old Time Sake: Kathleen Edwards
10. Circle of Steel: Gordon Lightfoot
Leazwell might faint when she reads this but I was thinking of her and her pictures when I was out yesterday trying to take pictures of flowers. She has some incredible photos and I was trying to "copy" her technique. You should really check her out. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and those of you in the east I certainly hope your weather improves!!

I love Kathleen Edwards, 'hockey skates' is one of my favs.
Its an ice storm out here, pretty bad actually. But those pictures are sublime. Glad someone's getting nice weather early!
Allison, me too on the love of Kathleen Edwards and "Hockey Skates". I also really like "Sweet Little Duck" from the same CD. I'm thinking she's about due for another CD!
I had schools, including the university was closed in your area.
Are you having an ice storm day? Hope so. If you're going to get lousy weather you should at least get a day off school!
K.E. Back to me. ****
Have a nice weekend. We have terrible whiteouts right now. I don't even know how I'm getting home. I heard the road (for 10 miles) is closed. ??
Later.
I love those pictures, way better than the 35 cm of snow that we got today! Most school were closed, but of course, universities were not! I can't wait to see some flowers here.
Thanks for posting nice pictures of what spring looks like!
Busterp, well I certainly hope you were able to get home. Back to Me is also a great K.E. song.
Evelyne, I remember a time before Christmas when a certain girl in Montreal was wishing for snow! Oh right, that was you! :) Too bad about the universities being open. Well all I can say is if you managed to get there I sure hope all your profs were also there.
snow squalls all day today and now a steady snow shower... they still have flowers somewhere?
Imogen Heap, is awesome, so very glad I found her solo stuff as well as frou frou
Junky, man you guys have been getting hit hard. Imogen Heap is awesome and she's one that gets better with repeated listenings which I always see as a good thing.
Hope you are able to enjoy the weekend even if you are snowed under.
Kathleen Edwards Hockey Skates is one of George S' favs too.
Flowers... it's so nice to see flowers.
He talked about how he is listening to a lot of women singers these days... I think i't because he need the female narrative in his life right now.
he is even thining of taking up yoga...
Barbara, your message came up twice so I deleted the repeat. I didn't expect the kind of weird administrator comment to be left in its place! George and yoga? Somehow that does not fit with his motorcycle image.
I've been thinking about Roy Orbison lately. For some reasons I have been hearing quite a few songs that remind me of him. And that is a good thing.
Your flower photos are wonderful. Don't ever doubt your photography skills.
It stopped snowing this afternoon. We didn't get the storm that they got in the east, but rather slow but steady snow for days.
Barbara B have you seen the Roy Orbison and Friends special on PBS? Roy Orbison always reminds me of my father. The East sounds like one horrific mess. I'll hope for a Chinook wind to blow through your town.
Yeah, I remember wishing for snow, but I guess that right now, the winter is getting long, and the beginning of the week was perfect; it was getting warmer and people started to think about spring... but outside the fact the the highways were jammed during the morning, it was beautiful and I enjoyed it. I'd say that sometimes, i love and hate the snow at the same time.
Evelyne, not that is a very Canadian sentiment! I think we all love and hate the snow. It's so pretty when it comes but then you want it over quick and bring on the summer.
The Roy & friends was ssssoo good...I saw that. I love Kathleen Edwards too and Linds is getting me into Imogen - she plays her every night at bedtime. Good list my dear!
Have a nice weekend. And your flower pics are very uplifiting!
Deb, nice to talk to someone that has seen the special. I thought it was great. You take care my friend. The Canucks are going to need their greatest fan in fighting form for the playoffs!
wow, you're good. I was just flicking through the channels and RO & Friends is on right now (WTVS)..."In Dreams". O.K., going to watch the rest. XO
(here that's channel 43....there's 45 minutes left and now he's doing "Crying")
He's singing Crying and I'm missing it! Aww. I only have basic cable so it's a no go for me but I'm happy to hear that you are able to see it.
bootiful flowers :) have a great weekend :)
Boo, thanks and thanks again for that poem last night. You turned my lazy night into a great night with that inspiration.
Leazwell, I know that's not true. I think maybe it's the eye with which you see things. I don't know but I certainly know you get some wicked shots. That's your artistic nature coming through.
If it is true that I have a better camera then I'm just depressed. After all it's my little camera that I like to blame for any and all bad shots!
I haven't seen the Roy Orbison special, Toccata, and it sounds like I missed it last night as well. He had such a unique style that I find it odd that I am hearing a few singers who remind me of him lately.
pretty pretty iris, nice list and pics.
ok... I'm not sure I'll be able to speak to you for awhile... no snow??? What's up with that? *harumph*
Seriously... beautiful photos... look for mine sometime in , ohhh, May :-(
Ethel
OMG, those are beeeeautiful photos!!!
Barbara, I wonder if the singers are younger if they were influenced by him? I also see a thankful trend from getting away from a "canned" or "predictable" style and maybe in the process singers are looking towards real musicians rather than packaged products for inspiration.
Leazwell, definitely agree with you on Roy Orbison. He had a definite passion for the song and his voice as an instrument.
Justacoolcat, well hopefully you guys are finishing up the last big one for the season. I guess it's early days yet but I will certainly wish you an early spring.
Mellowlee, thanks. We've had fog all day but warmer temperatures because of it. Hope you have too.
Ethel, of wotv as soon as I hit publish I knew I had missed you there. Sorry about that. You guys have been hit hard. You can get payback time during the summer and fall. Our falls are not nearly as pretty as yours and our summers are all too often filled with rain.
Errr, who are Neko Case? Japanese? I'm confused......
Danny tagalog, Neko Case is one of my favorite female singers. Although she is American I think she is probably better known in Canada. You can listen to some of her songs here: http://www.radioblogclub.com/search/0/neko_case
Hope you enjoy.
