Does anyone out there know about Rawlins Cross? They're a Newfoundland band complete with a bagpiper! Haven't seen them around in recent years though so I'm worried they decided to move on. Their concerts kicked ass.
I'll Return to Montreal - I think this one rates as one of my father's favorite songs. He plays it every time I'm there.
Being the good sport that she is small town teacher agreed to answer five questions in the interview game that was going around last week. Ignore her snotty little introduction but she made nice in her comments. That may have come about after threats to her well being but hey, I'll take a nice comment any way I can.
Have an awesome weekend everyone. Cheers!

Oh now that's a good list (mine is very odd today). I think I remember Rawlins Cross - I'm pretty certain they've played them on CBC before.
Barbara, I think you would like Rawlins Cross. You enjoy things off the beaten track and they are all excellent musicians.
p.s. Barbara I just flew to your place but I don't see your list as yet. Will stop by again later.
Ave a good un too!
Sorry bout that, Toccata - I hadn't quite blogged the list yet when you were by - I was still looking for Abe Simpson quotations.
I love love LOVE Jeff Buckley's Grace album.
I think that there should be more bagpipes in popular music. And more cowbells.
i remember them.
according to wikipedia, they broke up in 2001
You'd never last a day with my students if you couldn't take that joke!!! But you are a mathematically goddess, what can I say :)
Did you know the guitarist's wife from Spirt of the West taught at our University? I took song composition from her.
They used to get airplay in Toronto. Can't remember if it was CFNY or Q107, but somebody used to play 'em here.
I will catch up with everyone tomorrow. I am bone tired tonight. Just got back from a dance recital and I am headed to bed and I don't care that it's not even 10:00 yet!
Great list tc....the Jeff Buckley is my favorite. I haven't heard of Rawlins Cross but I will always love the bagpipes (as they were Mom's favorite).
I'm dog tired too...which is why I haven't been blogging much. I did compose a post but was too tired to finish it!!
I love that playlist! I don't have that Sarah Harmer song, I must give it a listen. I haven't heard of Rawlins Cross. I should give them a listen too! Happy weekend
Dogga, thanks.
Barbara, it's that multi-tasking, it will get you everytime.
Johnny Yen, me too. His voice has such a richness and honest quality to it that is so endearing. There's no sense of packaging if you know what I mean. It's just pure music.
668, rats. I kind of figured they must have broke up but I sure did like them.
Small town teacher, was the song composition class good? Sounds like a fun class.
Whitenoise, did you like them?
Deb, I think his Hallelujah has to be my favorite cover of that particular Leonard song.
Mellowlee, "I am Aglow" is on her I'm a Mountain CD. I'm going to see if I can't find it on the web somewhere.
I wrote a comment here before! Bah. Well, now I can't remember what it said...so, hello! :) Hope your weekend it going well!
Allison, I hate it when Mr. Blogger eats my comments. Hope your weekend with the parents is going ok too. Hang in there, you can make it!
I love Hallelujah too but the first night I heard it by JB my friend had just died and I listened to it over and over and OVER and kind of ruined it for awhile.
Deb, Hallelujah is such a powerful song that I can see where it would be difficult to listen to especially with those memories attached to it. In university I accompanied a vocalist and we had a song that we used to love to finish off rehearsals with. She committed suicide on one of the University breaks and to this day I can't play that song. I've tried but I get to about line three and I'm crying too hard and can't find the notes or work my fingers.
