Just Pics

I have noticed that I like taking pictures of the insides of flowers. For some reason this view intrigues me. I think it might also tell me why I enjoy some of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings so much.

Oddly enough I decided to post a picture of her "Autumn Trees, The Maple" instead of one of her more famous flowers.

Flowers really are amazing. Their colours and shapes are exquisite.

668, I'm not feeling terribly original tonight.

I like those pictures, they are great. I'm not someone who loves plants, but I like pictures of flowers. I looked at the pictures that I have on my computer and I have a bunch of pictures of flowers, I might post some of them, you might like some of these pictures and they remind me that summer should be here one day!

i love pics of flowers :)

668, haha. I stand corrected! :)

Evelyne, post the pictures. I would definitely enjoy seeing them. Hope spring makes an appearance for you soon.

Boo, my mind takes some giant leaps sometimes so you might have trouble following this but the second picture, the pink flower reminds me of you. This is because it reminds me of Sakura, Sakura a Japanese flute song which reminds me of the Chinese poem that you posted. That is because as soon as I read that poem I found myself running to my flute to play that song. Kind of odd how I can link up three unnconnected things but I can and I do. Hope you can follow that meandering trail!

I'm assuming you took the pictures. Nice job.

Georgia is a favorite of mine. I have always liked her work and spunk. Skulls are my favorite.

Busterp, I love her skulls as well. Almost posted one of them instead but thought they didn't quite go with my pics of flowers. I have longed to see New Mexico because of her work.

I find flower art to be strongly vaginal. Anyone else feel like listening to some Meredith Monk?

The inside of flowers are quite interesting, I find. I'm going to out this eve for a walk and many snap a few pics myself.

Toccata said...

Justacoolcat, of course they are. O'Keeffe's flower paintings are also said to be as such.

Allison, hey do. I will check out your site tonight after work. How's the carpooling going?

Toccata, I posted some pictures that me, my mom or my brother took since we have a digital camera, and I have to find the one where there's a bee in the flower, those are really cool!

Toccata said...

Evelyne, I just went and had a look at your pictures. Very nice. Just don't let one of those bees sting you when you try taking its picture!

Evelyne said...

No chances that a bee will sting me, my brothers are the one taking those pictures, i don't love bees since i've been chased by one when i was 6 years old!

Oooooh! Such beautiful photos! I think they would look terrific blown up and framed and hanging on my walls *G*

Toccata said...

Evelyne, what are brothers for! Good idea letting them be the ones to take the bee pictures.

Mellowlee, I wonder what kind of flowers lizards like? You need a lizard matching flower.

Hmm I imagine something exotic and tropical maybe.... like hibiscus or rhodedendrons (im sure i spelled that wrong, but you probably know the flowers I mean)

Toccata said...

Mellowlee, I will keep my eyes peeled and my camera ready!

Flowers are God's own psychedelia!

I love your blog's title btw. I'm well into the colour blue, as you may have noticed. One person once commented to me "no wonder you're depressed, you should change the colour of your blog" - but to me blue isn't depressing. It's cool and crisp and clean ...

Back to the flowers is that blue one an orchid??

Toccata said...

Gledwood, the blue flower is actually an iris. I will no doubt take lots of pictures of irisis in the weeks to come because they are one of my favourites and here they grow them in some amazing colours. My blog title comes from the linking of two Joni Mitchell songs.

tc...these photos are incredible. I especially love the pink one...I'm with Mel, could see it framed on my wall.

What type of camera are you using?....does a fantastic job. Or maybe that's just you skills...I think that's it!

Deb said...

*r (I forgot to add it on the end of "you skills). Early.

Deb, I have no idea if I have a good camera or a not good camera. I have an Olympus Fe-170. It was the last of the last year's model so it was on sale for really cheap. It was the really cheap that sold me! But what I can't do are your great landscape shots. I don't know why. I'm still jealous of your Mt. Baker picture!

I would say you have captured on film what O'Keefe brought out in her paintings! They seem to breathe.

Leazwell, thank you. What a nice thing to say.
