Congratulations Dylan!
Ok, it's proud Auntie day around here. My youngest nephew has just been drafted by the WHL by none other than the Moose Jaw Warriors, my hometown. He was selected second in the third round. This is great because if he does in fact go, he's still too young to play, he has a grandmother there and he would live with close friends of the family that also have boys his own age. Quite frankly I don't quite get how it works but I guess drafting kids before they are old enough to actually play is quite normal.
If I'm going to brag about my youngest nephew it seems only fitting to brag about my oldest nephew as well. He graduates from grade twelve this year. How did that happen? I'm suddenly having an, "I feel really old moment!" He is not into hockey. Volleyball is more his game and he's hoping to play on the university squad. For now he's all about his rock band. Haven't heard them but they are playing gigs in and around Winnipeg so hopefully they can carry a tune. The first time I heard, the Barenaked Ladies song, "If I had $1000000" was when Sean sang it for me when he was 2 1/2. I thought for sure he must have had the words wrong! "Well, I'd buy you a green dress - but not a real green dress, that's cruel."
Last year my oldest nephew, Sean, came out here for a week and stayed with me. It was so much fun. They have promised that Dylan will get his turn in grade eleven as well. I can't wait!
Hope you all are having a fantastic Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. Yes!

Nothing quite like a proud Auntie moment! I've enjoyed a few of them myself, albeit with nieces. Savour the pride, and I hope you get some great visiting in with the lads. Well done, Toccata's nephew!

Barbara, they are definitely fun kids. I love being an aunt; all the fun and none of the work.

Allison, couldn't help myself today. The two of them would just roll their eyes and say, "Please, don't embarass us!"

668, it is indeed.

Gratz Dylon, but what's the WHL? :0)

Dogga, it's just a hockey league but for a lot of small towns in Canada the WHL team is the thing and the players are given local hero status. I would think it's probably similar to a hometown football (soccer) team is in your country.

Well you know how I feel about hockey so that is indeed a proud moment. And the WHL is a big deal... it can open the door to the NHL for some.

And your nephew singing BNL "If I Had A Million Dollars" to you at 2 1/2....I LOVE that. Aren't kids great?

Deb, good morning. I wanted to add a line about someday hoping your nephew and my nephew would represent Canada together someday but that sounded like adding pressure to a game that's supposed to be fun!

Ah, now I understand, thanks! :]
