Starbucks Stole My iPod!

Sitting in Starbucks this morning and this is what I heard, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Wilco, Hem and Van Morrison. I don't know why but I find this somewhat disturbing. Maybe because I like to think my tastes are not so mainstream and I don't want what I listen to turning into elevator music or white noise.

Saw my first daffodil of the season in bloom today! Not thing one, but I will definitely have to get my camera out and start taking picture of the spring flowers that are starting to pop up.

As you can see I do not have a darn thing to talk about but I've been gone over a week and figured I should get myself back online. Now, I am going to visit you all. Have a good weekend everyone.

So when are you closing the deadline to "what do you notice about this ring" competition? I now crazy with curiosity! I never was good at puzzles.

Hey 668 obviously that last comment was for you!

I remember the day I first heard Led Zeppelin in the supermarket. That's the day I realized they'd stolen my rebellious youth

Good call. I think about that too. For me (since I never have been in a Starbucks, really), I notice the songs of some of my (lesser? known) favorities in the background in the grocery store of all things. Also some of them show up in the intros and exits(for a few seconds) of radio shows as they come in or go out to breaks.

Have a great weekend. We have temps in the 50's predicted for Sunday so we can get all muddy before it drops again next week.

Gifted Typist, Led Zeppelin in the grocery store! That's just wrong.

Busterp, oh man you guys are really getting his from all sides aren't you. Don't get stuck in the mud. At least I know you won't be freezing this weekend.

I saw a clump of daffs out in full force two weeks ago and the temp was in the 20s. Sheesh, yeah, spring is right around the corner.

Leazwell, nice. I just love seeing the daffodils poke their heads out. Hopefully now that your daffodils are out the sun won't be far behind!

I have yet to see a flower (well outside) up here. Sigh! I'll be back down for spring break though to see lots!

Toccata said...

Small town teacher, I will be in town! Coffee?

See, I told you Starbucks was evil. ;)

Damn Starbucks.

Lucky you with flowers. ;-)

Toccata said...

Allison, your comment is making me laugh:)

Evelyne, I hope you can dig yourself out of the snowbanks soon!
Are you staying in Montreal for your break?

You get flowers so much earlier than us. I'm jealous.

Though, I am growing daffodils on the kitchen counter.

the music thing...could be you're just getting old

i will post the answer soon, probably tomorrow. i had to post a special little tribute first.

Justacoolcat, I get jealous when I think of you biking in Minnesota. I loved biking in your state. So many beautiful lakes and constantly being surrounded by trees. Perfect.

Kelly, you brat. I should have known you'd get back at me!

668, I can't wait to find out. I'll have to stop by and see what others think they see.

No Starbucks experiences for me and I'd welcome their music in comparison to the Sushi bar at work (that I've moaned about before).

But, yes, that would be unnerving. "Get outta my head".

I have mini daffs that really make me happy when I go outside. :)

Deb, I remember when I worked in a mall, the music drove me nearly crazy. That and the stupid remote control cars that were always zipping around Radio Shack across the aisle! My head is starting to hurt just thinking about it.

For me, the Starbucksification of my music started when they were selling The Crane Wife (the Decemberists), which disturbed me greatly. It culminated when I saw In Rainbows being shilled in Starbucks. That shocked me to the core.

Toccata said...

Barbara, I remember well when I first heard The Decemberists in Starbucks. That was the beginning!

What gorgeous spring flowers. The photo actually made me feel a bit better, which is saying something considering 2 extra strength advil, a cup of chai latte and 12 hours of sleep didn't have much of an effect yesterday ;O)

Re; the Starbucks music, I think they must have hired an exec who has GREAT taste in music. Or they're just screwing with us... It's pretty disturbing anyways

I've tagged you, Toccata!

Toccata said...

Well, Mel I think I will just have to go browse my ten million pictures of flowers and pick you out a whole bouquet.

Barbara @#$%*&*&%!+@#$

Huh, I was listening to Joni Mitchell only the other day :]

Dogga, I had an older brother that listened to Joni Mitchell which is how I got hooked on her. Totally hooked. There was a time when I knew the lyrics to every song she had ever recorded off by heart.

Barbara, she's done and in the end it was a whole lot of fun.

Mellowlee, I took pictures this morning and will try and post them for you tonight.
