Artist Trading Cards
Last Sunday I went to my very first artist trading card meeting with a friend. It was loads of fun. If anyone out there is the least bit interested in arts or crafts I suggest you find your way to your artist trading card meeting in your town. It's a world wide phenomenon and I can see why.
For the first two hours we created cards and then in the last hour we traded cards. Luckily, my friend told me to have some cards ready before hand which I did. By the time the trading was done I had no cards left.
These two cards I made there but didn't attempt to trade them because I thought I should coat them in an acrylic gel medium first. I still haven't done that but I will. The only rule is the cards have to be 2.5 by 3.5 inches. Other than that anything goes.
Tomorrow I am headed to a calligraphy retreat. I think it's going to be great fun although I must admit I am more than a little apprehensive about spending a day working on calligraphy side by side people that have been doing it all their lives. I've taken one little class and right now that little class is feeling very minor indeed. Oh well, have to start somewhere.
Yesterday I read the headline: Canada is Suffering through One Hell of a Winter. So I decided the only thing to do was participate in a favorite pastime of my adopted city and go out and take some snaps of flowers to irritate all the people having to shovel yet more snow.
The first tulip of the season!
Have a great weekend everyone. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead unless of course you live in Saskatchewan and therefore get to ignore the whole lose an hour of sleep madness.

Sounds like a fun weekend! The card you sent me sits on my bookshelf! :)
I totally forgot it was Daylight Savings time...they call it something different here, which I can't remember at the moment, but it made me laugh. Anywhoo...happy weekend. :)
oh, British Summer Time. Inventive, huh? ;)
Oh, I won't forget to change my clock ahead one hour. I work on sunday booohooo :O(

We change our clocks on March 30...how odd.
Wow, you guys are quick!
Allison, I think our date switched because the Americans changed when they switch. Happy weekend to you too. Hope you are feeling better. Eat those vegies. Fine, I'll quit nagging.
Mellowlee, hope your weekend is going well also. How are you feeling. Both you and Allison are contagious at the moment!
I would trade my first born for one of your artist's trading card. I still have your foldout card on my dresser and your Christmas card hanging in my kitchen window because I can't bear to take it down.
My rhubarb is starting to grow already! I'll be harvesting in a month!
Those blooms!!!
It was a 16+ this afternoon in Calgary.
When the grass is dead and the tree empty it hard to enjoy.

Barbara, rhubarb yum. I even like eating raw rhubarb that you dip in sugar. Do you do that? Or do you make stewed rhubarb? I like that too.
Mathew John it was 16+? Wow, it was a lot warmer in your neck of the woods than mine!
Toccata, the first time I visited you site I was blown away by your cards. And once again, I'm drooling... they are beautiful: you're sense of colour and composition are outstanding...
I hope you post some your calligraphic work too.
