Since I'm not sleeping I decided to get an early morning start on the Friday's Random itune shuffle:

Oh God no, it's started with an embarassingly sappy song! Are there rules about editing as we go?

1. 100 Years: Five for Fighting
2. Pendulums: Sarah Harmer
3. Miss April: Chantal Kreviazuk
4. Diamond Mine: Blue Rodeo
5. The Beautiful Sea: Hem
6. Addicted: Kelly Clarkson (Ok I seriously need to edit this list!)
7. Salamandre: Sarah Harmer
8. All That I'm Good For: Hem
9. Black Widow: Michelle Shocked
10. Rosie: Joan Armatrading
11. It's A Long Life To Always Be Longing: Hawksley Workman
12. Mojo Pin: Jeff Buckley

I decided to let in 11 and 12 to make up for 1 and 6.

It's pretty interesting to see what the shuffle spits out. You get songs that you forget were even on there!

It takes a brave woman to post a list that has songs which make her cringe. Good for you for not editting, I say. And Sarah Harmer, Joan Armatrading, and Hawksley Workman more than save the day.

Brave or foolish I'm not sure which. When the first song spat out I was like, oh no please don't do this to me!

hahaha. the first couple of times i had stuff that i was slightly embarrased about. i wanted to edit so much! but i was good, i did not cheat.

Hi 668. It feels like the computer done me wrong with some of the songs. I can see where not editing makes for a pretty interesting in a cringe inducing kind of way!

Like Barb said, there are songs on that list that more than make up for it. I love Sarah Harmer, and Hem, and Joan and Hawksley Workman, and Jeff Buckley!

Mine gave me three Elvis Costello songs. I thought that was pretty funny!

You're braver than I. I have a lot of music. Some good- some so bad I swear I only have them for the sake of kitsch. With my luck all of the kitcsh songs would come up and people would be left with the impression that I really like Manili Vanilli or Cameo.

Hey Mellowlee it's nice to see someone else knows and enjoys Hem.

John, I think a list of kitcsh songs would be pretty entertaining and no doubt a springboard for some crazy internet chat.

I'm impressed with the no edit, I probably would have edited it, you're brave. I need to do my random tuesday next week, such a fun game.

Toccata said...

Allison, you'd like this game and I think you're list would be an interesting one to see from reading your different posts on music.

Oh, I just noticed your picture. Do you play the flute? I used to years ago.

Toccata said...

I play flute and piano but strictly classical. Did you play in a school band Allison? That's where I first started the flute but luckily I was fortunate enough to study privately as well. My one regret is I cannot sing. I always thought it would be so nice to be able to play the piano and sing but sadly I have about a 3 note range and the notes I can hit never seem to hit at the right time. My father is an awesome singer and I used to love to play while he sang.

Yes, I started in grade 5 and played until high school. I was rather ok too, but decided for whatever reason, to stop. I think it was either band or art, and well, I loved making art more than I did playing.
Sounds like you have a better range than most!

If I had known you were going to do an 11 and twelve I would have done the same because I had a few lame ones in my list too. Yours are much cooler than mine.

Toccata said...

Allison, what I have is too many interests and not enough focus.

Barbara I decided to go have a look at your list first. Playing is fun but then when you see the thing spit out certain songs you're like, "No, no don't do this to me!"

I decided to listen to it in random all day long and I have great songs in there I forgot all about. Thanks for reminding me to listen to the music.

I'm glad you enjoyed listening to your music today Barbara. I love how music can transport me back in time to different periods in my life.

LOL, Kelly Clarkson. I likely wouldn't even have admitted to that. The rest of the list looks pretty great though! I wonder if I should start doing the Friday shuffle *rubs chin*

Toccata said...

I think you should Alana it's a lot of fun but take my advice, clear out the old itunes first! When Kelly Clarkson came on I was like, "Oh great, just slit my wrists now!"

Alana Elliott said...

Hahaha, does it have to be itunes, though? Can't I just shuffle my media player? I hate using itunes, and I couldn't be payed to own an ipod. I'm still sticking with an old school 90's discman. :P
